Melissani Lake Cave

Just a few minutes from Sami, in Karavomylos, lies one of Greece’s most photographed attractions: an underground lake with waters so clear that the boats appear to be floating in midair. The cave was formed when its ceiling collapsed around 1951, revealing the lake that Greek mythology identified as the Cave of the Nymphs.

Drogkarati Cave

Just a few kilometers from Sami, the Drogarati Cave was uncovered about 300 years ago by an earthquake and has been open to the public since 1963. At a depth of 60 meters, you’ll find yourself inside a chamber measuring 65×45 meters and 20 meters high, filled with impressive stalactites and stalagmites millions of years old. Thanks to its unique acoustics, the main chamber has even hosted concerts. The constant temperature of around 18°C makes it a cool refuge even on the hottest days of summer.
